icBackup is installed directly on the server (or servers) you wish to backup.  We use standard external USB drives to store the data.  Every night, icBackup will search for a storage repository on any connected drive and perform a backup there.  Once this phase is complete, icBackup will connect to one of our servers in one of our high-speed data centers and perform a remote backup.

To reduce the time it takes to perform the first backup, we will connect an external USB hard drive to the server and perform a local icBackup.  Once complete, we will take this drive to our data center.  icBackup will send only the changes to files across the internet, saving many hours.  If you ever need a complete copy of the backup, we will bring an external USB drive to you.

icBackup uses state of the art differential algorithm to perform a backup.  We can give you any version of a file that existed at the time icBackup is performed.  For example, If icBackup is scheduled to run at 2am every night.  We can give you a copy of any file that was present on your server at any 2am time.  icBackup cannot, of course, return the intermediate versions that existed throughout the day.

If a customer desires to obtain an archived version (end of year, etc), an additional external USB hard drive can be purchased and utilized for this purpose.
